Yet despite what was lost, folks still read and consider Sappho's writings 2600 years after she died.
Here is fragment # 152 of Sappho as translated by Ms. Carson---"...mingled with all kinds of colors..."
I'm sure it means something and I'm sure it merits being recalled even after so many years.
We'd all be better off with an edit of our words and actions.
We'd be better off to restrict ourselves to our best selves to the extent possible, and to leave people guessing to some extent about what we mean.
