![]() The John Cornyn Houston Office Protest marks 8 years of weekly protest with Week 416 on January 28, 11:30 AM-1 PM at 5300 Memorial Dr. This is our time and location each Tuesday. The photo above is our year 7 protest last January. The Cornyn Protest Team shows up confidently for democracy in a highly visible place. We won't be pushed off the street by the aggression of the right. With Trump's release of the cop-attacking January 6th traitors, it's been made clear that political violence by the right may well go unpunished. This attempt to cause fear among democracy-loving Americans cannot be rewarded. This past April, the Cornyn Protest Team successfully obtained a misdemeanor conviction in Houston Municipal Court against a man who threw eggs at us from his car. In addition to voting, we must be willing to be present physically. There is every reason to believe that when Trump refuses to obey court orders or strips our rights by decree, a good portion of our politics will move to the streets or other non-conventional forms of political expression and action. The John Cornyn Houston Office Protest team sets the exempt of showing up & is ready for the fights ahead. We have a social media following and are well-known for standing every week for 8 years at the very busy intersection of Memorial & Detering. Please share word of the Cornyn Protest & please join us for friends/foes/passers-by/police to see. We are a friendly team with extra signs for all. Whatever amount of time you can spend with us is the right amount of time. If you can't join us this Monday, any day you join us is the right day. We must show up for ourselves in the difficult days ahead. Friends, foes, police and passers-by must see that we are ready for whatever comes our way. Our freedom is up to us to fight for. I'm on the Egberto Willies Politics Done Right Show every Thursday from 6 AM to 7 AM for the Houston Democracy Project segment. You can hear the show on the radio, stream it on KPFT or watch later Egberto's YouTube channel. Here is a fundraising pitch for the Houston Democracy Project. I'm doing the work and showing up in many different ways. Please help the effort.
