Below is the current, 9/4-9/13, Houston Democracy Project Grassroots Freedom Calendar.

​Please tell folks this resource exists & leave a comment or message me if I'm missing something. I mostly feature autonomous actions outside the networks of elected officials & traditional organizing groups.

Nora has been well-documenting Houston-area protest and offers an autonomous source of information and of celebration of our efforts. It's essential we have our own resources and our own channels of communication for the difficult days ahead.)

The next action is when you organize it. The First Amendment is your permit. The only credential you need is your existence. You don't need to feel confident to proceed. Voting is not going to be enough.

Thursday 9/4—Egberto Willies’ Politics Done Right broadcasts the weekly Houston Democracy Project hour from 6 AM-7 AM. Politics Done Right is on KPFT 90.1 every weekday morning from 6 to 7 & there is also Egberto’s 3 PM show on YouTube and his Substack. Egberto is essential local independent media who merits support.

Thursday, 9/4--Weekly protest at office of odious Dan Crenshaw, 10 AM-11 AM, at intersection of Kingwood and Green Oak. This is from Indivisible Kingwood. 

​Details: We meet up at the intersection of Kingwood Drive and Green Oak Drive at 10:00 a.m. Bring your favorite sign or pick one up there. You will be trespassing if you park in the shopping center with Big City Wings, unless you purchase something from one of the businesses. If you do buy something and park there, hold on to your receipt. Wherever you decide to park, make sure you’re legal! Once you have arrived, find your spot and be seen! Feel free to move around, but always stay on public property. We are a law-abiding group. Since we are individuals, you are not restricted to just this location. Some attendees like to gather in front of Crenshaw’s office.

Friday, 9/5—Weekly protest organized by Marsha Kamish at the Social Security office at 13302 Westheimer from noon to one. They get strong support from passers-by at a busy intersection. There is parking. 

Sunday, 9/7-Weekly Sunday protest at the Avelo Airlines HQ, 10:30 AM-12 PM 12 Greenway Plaza. Avelo is flying people abducted by ICE. This event is held by Houston Area People's Advance. (I do not know this group.)

Tuesday, 9/9—Week 448 of the John Cornyn Houston Office Protest, 11:30-1 at 5300 Memorial Dr. It is essential people see others like themselves standing openly and confidently for freedom no mater the aggression of the right. There are extra signs or you can bring your own. 

Wednesday, 9/10-Monthly meeting of the Indivisible No Surrender Coalition of Fort Bend County, 1517 Eugene Heimann Circle in Richmond, 6:30 PM-8 PM. This is a great group doing a lot of work to organize in Fort Bend county and beyond. There is strong work being done in suburbs and rural areas across the Houston-region. Find a group near you or start one yourself. 

Saturday, 9/13--No Kings Returns, 9 AM-12 PM, 301 N. Thompson in Conroe. There have been consistent, well-attended actions in Conroe. They are often accompanied by a food drive. Click the link to learn the details. 

Saturday, 9/20--Make Billionaires Pay, 21010 Katy Freeway, noon-1. This is a very visible spot and there is parking in the convenient Holiday Inn lot. Bring a sign opposing the oligarch takeover of the country and let the many passers-by know they are not alone in how they feel. 

Saturday, 10/18--The next big 50501 No Kings event. It'll be nationwide and local. Details to come.
