Yesterday, 8/23, Marsha Kamish was presented with a Women Making History award from Texas Democratic Women-Harris County Metro Area. Above you see Marsha accepting the award. This fine club is led by Silvia Mintz & includes Linda Morales and Treasea Trevino in club leadership—Three great freedom fighters. Marsha was honored for many reasons. Here are some of the reasons: * Organized 2000 person No Kings Rally in Katy and organizing Labor Day, 9/1, rally in Katy in support of federal workers. (This is part of a large number of Labor Day protests across the region and the nation.) * Organizer of weekly Friday protest at Social Security office at 13302 Westheimer. That is a very busy location & many people see this action each week. * Active in Indivisible Katy Huddle. * Core 8 year co-organizer of the John Cornyn Houston Office Protest. * Active Precinct Chair in Katy. One thing that heartened me about this award was the recognition of protest by a strong Democratic club. Both protest and electoral politics will be essential in the challenging days ahead. Marsha reminds you to vote & also says the next action will be when you organize it. Congratulations to Marsha. I'm on the Egberto Willies Politics Done Right Show every Thursday from 6 AM to 7 AM for the Houston Democracy Project segment. You can hear the show on the radio, stream it on KPFT or watch later Egberto's YouTube channel. Here is a fundraising pitch for the Houston Democracy Project. I'm doing the work and showing up in many different ways. Please help the effort.
