2014 HOUSTON PRIDE WEEK AND PRIDE PARADE---LEAD SPONSOR IS PUBLIC HEALTH SMASHING ALCOHOL COMPANY

The 2014 Houston Pride Parade will take place on June 28th at 8:15 PM.  

Pride Houston organizes the parade.

Below is part of the Pride Houston's stated mission in putting together Pride Week and the Pride Parade--

"It’s core mission is to strengthen equality and increase awareness around issues important to our community such as health, safety and marriage equality..."

The top sponsor for Pride Houston is listed as Bud Light.

Whatever else Pride Houston and the yearly parade may be about, they are not about health and safety as asserted on the Pride Houston website. 

Alcohol is a public health menace. 

Alcohol is a public safety disaster.  

Alcohol plays a part in the spread of sexually transmitted diseases. 

Alcohol concerns have long flooded low-income communities with cheap toxic booze. 

I've got no grudge with Pride Houston and I'd object to any alcohol concern sponsoring an event that might easily in the public mind be associated with progress in Civil Rights. 

Go to Pride Houston events and the Pride Parade and have a great time. 

But please consider the fact also that the end point of Pride events in Houston in 2014 is nothing more than a good time out on the town.

Would Bud Light and Budweiser expect any more of you than just having a good time?
