25 YEARS SINCE THE TIANANMEN SQUARE MASSACRE---THE U.S. IS MORE AND MORE A SURVEILLANCE STATE WITH MILITARIZED POLICE
With the 25th anniversary of the Tiananmen Square massacre, it's important to recall that the Chinese government was a brutal dictatorship in 1989 and that it remains the same today in 2014.
We can't forget Tiananmen. People all over the world want to be free.
The men and women who died in Tiananmen Square on June 4, 1989 died not just for a better China, but also in the service of the best and most hopeful aspirations of people all around the globe.

On the 25th anniversary of Tiananmen Square, we also need to consider about how much more of a surveillance state America is today than 25 years ago, and how we now have militarized police wearing camouflage and sometimes driving tanks on American city streets.
The same thing that took place in China in 1989 can happen in the United States.
It is up to each of us--as individuals and working with others--to do the work of freedom.
