The only point of the Republican debate tonight is to drain you of empathy and make you feel hopeless and angry.
You'd be better off doing nearly anything other than taking up smoking or becoming an international ivory trader than to watch that debate. I'm intent on retaining empathy and care for as many people as possible no matter the course of the political year ahead. I'm American to the core and don't think of myself as fully removed from any other American. This does not involve a suspension of judgement or action.
