As I turn 50 soon, I've been reflecting on stuff.
The books I've liked most are 1.Spoon River Anthology by Edgar Lee Masters. 2. If Not, Winter--Fragments of Sappho translated by Anne Carson & 3. Moby Dick. Spoon River Anthology sees all sides of every story and is doubtful of every account from all sides. Regarding Saphho, I run a family shop on social media and the Sappho book is in fact quite wholesome. All that is left of Sappho's poems are fragments. Here is fragment 129--"But me you have forgotten." That is all that is left of that poem. Yet it conveys plenty. There is not much to say about most things. I've never finished Moby Dick and that is my personal white whale. My belief is that Ahab and the whale will become friends at the end of the book. I find it hopeful that they will be able to set aside their difference
