DREAM INVOLVING BROWN UNIVERSITY FOOTBALL, THE BRUTALITY OF FOOTBALL, BEING ALONE AND MY NEPHEW12/13/2015 ![]() I recently had a dream that I was at a game of cricket at the Brown University football stadium in Providence. I went to many Brown football games in the 1970's. Maybe I was alone in the dream because I'd walk the two miles to the game by myself before children became prisoners. Because I don't really know what cricket looks like, the game consisted of people just running around. There was a big tent on the field. Because we now know that football kills and maims at every level it is played, maybe that is why I dreamed of cricket and not football. Maybe the tent was like a tent in MASH for injured football players. At Brown there is a large grandstand on the Brown side and a smaller set of bleachers for visiting fans. You see that in the picture above. In the dream, I was sitting in the visiting side just like sitting on the opposition benches in a parliamentary government. In time, the opposition will govern. Right as I sat down, somebody called my name. I was not by myself as I had thought. Not that there is anything wrong with being by yourself. The ability and willingness to do things by yourself is a sign of emotional well-being and self-confidence. The person who called my name was my nephew who is a classical guitar grad student at Indiana U. I went over to the nephew and we had a hug and that is where the dream ended. It was a good dream.
