YOU NEED TO ACT RIGHT NOW

GAY MARRIAGE MOVEMENT, WHILE GOOD, IS ABOUT JOINING ESTABLISHMENT RATHER THAN CHALLENGING ESTABLISHMENT---CLINTON NOT PART OF ADDRESSING THE MOST IMPORTANT ISSUES

A recent New York Times story says Hillary Clinton is doing well with gay political donors.

The gay marriage decision was good news.

But we should also recall that it was not about challenging the current establishment so much as about joining the current establishment. I say this as a Stonewall Cincinnati endorsed candidate for the Cincinnati Board of Education in the 90's when the Clinton team was signing the Defense of Marriage Act.

The facts remain that how we live in America is changing the climate in ways that hurt the most poor & that black men are still being targeted and killed by police.

I get people yielding to the threat at the core of the Clinton campaign that if you don't vote for Hillary you'll get something terrible. The stakes are high in every Presidential election.

One can only imagine the sense of entitlement and privilege inherent to the Clinton family business of racking up huge speaking fees in exchange for keeping you safe from Scott Walker.

It would be patronizing to view any person who can correctly say they have been oppressed as somehow imbued with some special wisdom or insight. That is just not how it works. America is better when everybody has all their rights, but the deeper work of freedom will not be done by our hyper-networked, corrupt and money-bought political class.

This work will be done by people from all backgrounds and life experiences who are willing to take risks and to consider the freedom of all people.
