This evening I attended the monthly meeting of the Houston chapter of the Democratic Socialists of America.
The meeting was held at the AFL-CIO labor hall you see in the picture.
There was a crowd of about 80 folks at the meeting.
Tangible actions discussed at the meeting this evening were--
1. Taking part in union led Labor Day actions for the $15 minimum wage.
2. Information from a union representative about an upcoming session about the link between unions and immigration & how to help oppose the soon to be implemented terrible Show Me Your Papers SB 4 law in Texas.
3. Information from a NARAL Texas organizer about an upcoming reproductive rights day that involves meeting with members of Houston City Council.
The meeting was friendly and open.
There are many avenues to work against what Trump and the right is doing & to work for a hopeful future.
Look around and see what works for you.
Be part of multiple efforts and groups if that is what works for you.
Here is a report on the recent successful Democratic Socialists of America convention in Chicago.
