Here you see a picture of a license plate I saw in Houston last week.
Texas is big and complex.
But sometimes you do see things that lend currency to more commonly held conceptions of the place.
All you can do is wish this person well as a fellow citizen of the nation and world, and move forward with your own efforts.
Except---Maybe there is an alternate interpretation of the message expressed with this license plate.
Instead of declaring possession of a dangerous weapon coupled with might well be seen as a deeply misguided states rights viewpoint, this person's Gadsen Flag plate may belong to someone who plays the glockenspiel.
At the bottom of this post is a picture of a glockenspiel. It is a German musical instrument and there are indeed plenty of German immigrants who came to Texas. (Texas has always been a land of immigrants.)
There is a Glockenspiel Clock in Grapevine, Texas and a Glockenspiel music stage in Fredericksburg, Texas.
This Glock license plate is quite possibly a proud assertion and affirmation of German culture in Texas, and of the full history of immigration in Texas including right up to the current day.
