While it is a given that shopping on Thanksgiving is lousy, some places are customarily open on the holiday such as restaurants serving a holiday meal and convenience stores.
I tip servers working a holiday a time-and-a-half rate. This is what we should be paid for working a holiday.
Assuming the server doesn't spit at me, I'll tip $15 which is 30% of what I know will be a $50 meal at the Thanksgiving brunch that I've booked.
At the convenience store you can give folks behind the counter a $1 scratch off.
At the least, we can thank folks working a holiday.
So if you fall and break your leg or are arrested on Thanksgiving, thank the paramedic & the cop for working the day.
Working folks need to treat each other well.
