It is understandable for Hillary Clinton supporters to say that Bernie Sanders should raise money for down ballot Democrats.
However, this view neglects the fact that Sanders is in good part running in opposition to some of those very same down ballot Democrats. I support this aspect of the Sanders campaign. The intent is not to see Democrats defeated in November. The intent is to make clear that the corruption of money is a problem for Democrats as well. To ask Sanders to take time and effort away from his message to help people who have nearly 100% endorsed Clinton and without being willing to discuss reforms within the Democratic Party establishment, is not in the spirit of compromise. I have myself in recent days donated to two down ballot Harris County, Texas Democrats. I've also donated to the Harris County Green Party. None of this is simply black and white. But the assertion that Sanders should just get on board with an establishment that has opposed him every step of the way is not in the end a fair request. Please follow me on Instagram.
